Clarebot vs Google is Evil
Very unhappy. Google is Evil. Some jerkwads "flagged" the lovesong video and then some buffoon Inquisitor at Google decided that this music video violates their terms of use. It's absolutely absurd. Of course, they give no reason -- they can't say it's pornography or violates any copyright -- they just took it down.
Now I'm scared of Google. I want to move my blog in case they want to take IT down too. And obviously, I have to find another means of hosting my videos.

YouTube sucks anyway. I've been thinking about trying LibSyn.com -- they have packages starting at $5/month. They pitch themselves to podcasters, but I've seen them host video, too.
I was thinking of just hosting video on my own site as Quicktimes. Flash is so much easier to watch though.
I host my own QuickTime vids occasionally. However, if you start getting a lot of hits, it can be easy to go over your bandwidth limit (at least with my Web hosting company).
Flash is easy to use and installed on almost everybody's computer, but it don't look nearly as nice as QuickTime. And what's up with YouTube conforming everything to a 4:3 aspect ratio? That's so 20th Century.
h264 is my new religion. And I want either 2.35:1 or at least 1.85:1. If I get a lot of hits I'll be mighty happy.
Apple's Compressor is the light and the way. I finally figured out how to get the 2.35:1 crop to work properly -- let me know if you run into problems, and I can hopefully help you out.
