To Do
Now it's true, you could watch the "rape/torture fantasy" remake of The Last House on the Left. Or you could watch Sunshine Cleaning. The advantage to Last House? It's executive produced by our sales rep Ray Haboush. Plus, I'm not afraid that the ending won't actually be an ending. I do have the fear that with "Sunshine" the last act will just sort of... meh. Similar to how the last Sunshine (as in "Little Miss") didn't actually have an ending.
A problem Save the Cat would have solved.
In any case, our personal finances overshadows any kind of "art". Feh! See the Last House! ;-)

Didn't actually have an ending?
Are you nuts? Or did you miss the faux strip tease that actually brought the family together?
It might be that I was prejudiced at knowing that the filmmakers didn't originally have an ending -- they shot a few of them (actually, watching the DVD outtakes I liked one of the other ones they didn't use). But I certainly felt that going into the third act there was a bit of confusion about what emotionally was supposed to happen.
Oh and to answer your question: Yes. I am nuts.
Whether they had one during the production or not really has no reflection on whether or not the finished film itself has one ... many films (as you know) shoot different endings, or find the ending during production ... whether this is the smart way to work it or not is up for argument (Hal Ashby, among others, made some good films without knowing how he was really going to end them ... he also made some bad ones) what isn't up for argument is whether or not Little Miss Sunshine has an actual ending ... and certainly having uncertainly BEFORE the last act hits can actually work in a film's favor, to the point where people can't really predict where it's going.
Actually, the ending follows Snyder's checklist pretty close ... whether one agrees wholeheartedly with STC or not, Little Miss Sunshine hits the high points Snyder lists ...
I enjoyed Sunshine Cleaning. It's the not-uncommon quirky "indie" story, but the cast is fantastic.
What people should really see (no disrespect to your sales rep), is Watchmen. It might be the best comic book superhero movie ever. Assuming people like comic book superhero movies...
Well, maybe you should just buy a ticket to Last House and then go in to see Watchmen...
The way I see it, if Let the Right One In couldn't even get itself nominated for an Oscar, what's the point of indie film? ;-) (I know, it's the Swedish government's fault, but still...)
I still haven't seen Let the Right One In. Must remedy that.
A real indie film will never win an Oscar. That's what the Spirit awards are for.
I dunno -- you should hear Mitchell make fun of the Spirit Award he was nominated for. Of course, Mitch wouldn't be in any club that wants him to join. ;-)
