More Ridiculousness

OK, so I'm a bit freaked that Final Draft has crashed twice over the weekend -- taking out the last saved version of the script with it. Doesn't matter how much you save, unless you "save as" and make a new version number, it can go down and gobble that script right up. It's almost like it's not saving at all.

So I dunno. Do I go to Celtx? Do I go to Open Office?

My sister posted this rabbit on Facebook for me. It's from this Huffington Post ... um... er... post.

never had any trouble with celtx. good price too. but hell both are free and you get more apps with the office package. celtx being a dedicated scripting package runs straight out of the box without having to load or create macros. i'd also consider dropping the final draft folks a note telling them that they've ruined your life and devastated your production budget. and send them the picture of the messed up bunny too. that'll teach 'em. perhaps they'll mail you a gift certificate or something to make up.

Celtx works great for me, with one exception. When you kick it into pdf, it doesn't always format the page and line breaks the same way. That can be a real problem, as I always try to make as many pages as possible end with a 'mini-cliffhanger', to keep people turning the pages. But since the program shifts the page break by a line here and a line there, it isn't always possible.

Other than that, though...

Which version of Final Draft, and is it Mac or PC? I've never had a problem with mine(PC, now version 8.0)

I have Final Draft version 7.1 point-something. It worked fine for me for years, I should just re-install it I suppose but it's just scary that this COULD happen.
I'll try Celtx. Open source you know.
My version of FD is legitimate but I got it as a part of the "gift bag" from a theater festival, Final Draft was giving everyone who worked on it a free copy. And now, of course, I can't find my serial number. OK. Celtx will get a try...

Or you could sign up at fivesprockets.com and use their scriptwriting, production breakdown and scheduling software...

You are likely to run into some of the same problems as Celtx, but what the hey, right?

I went with Celtx this time but I'll keep Five Sprockets in mind.
